There are a number of reasons why your website traffic may be down compared to last year, and we’re going to talk you through the two most common issues.
Lack of fresh content
Back in the day Google and other search engines were happy for you to rank high so long as you had plenty of links going to your site from authoritative domains. That’s all changed now though, you also have to have fresh, relevant and engaging content. Without this your rankings may tumble.
Sometimes it’s just a case of seasonality. If your website traffic comes is down, it could be a case of your entire industry being down. Some products will come in and out and perhaps this year is just a bad year for the industry as a whole. Always check Google Trends for further insights.
